I have an HG child, according to all those tests, but I have to say, I try not to focus on it. I had a PG brother and he was such a mess. He was brilliant--no question--but he didn't know how to have a friend or be part of a team or show care, even though I know he wished he could later in life. He ended up killing himself. That was such an awful experience that I'm focusing on trying to help my dd learn balance in life, how to take care of herself, make and keep friends and relationships. I don't worry about her being challenged academically because we do all sorts of supplemental stuff outside of school, but I do worry about her happiness as an adult. Has anyone else gone through something like this? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Never thought of that but you are probably right, now that I think about it. [ Reply | More ]

so sorry about your brother. All those things you are focusing on are wonderful, but I would still search for the most academically rigorous school I could find (another way is to go progressive, which can be a better fit for some of these kids). HG children need to be challenged because otherwise it negatively affects their self-esteem. [ Reply | More ]
