my 22 month old ds is screaming and throwing tantrums each time he doesnt get what he wants...several times a day. hes fairly easy to distract so i try distraction or ignoring the tantrum, however, i feel like i should be doing something else to be more authoratative. i dont want to convey to him that i am too soft or confrontational. any suggestions on discipline? sounds to me like you're doing fine...it's hard for him to control his emotions at that age. if distraction works, then you don't need a hard hand [ Reply | More ]

Just be consistant and don't give into the tantrum. He will eventually stop. [ Reply | More ]

I think it's just an age thing - my 2 1/2 year old still does this but the tantrums have gotten much shorter (usually). [ Reply | More ]

You're doing fine as long as distraction and ignoring are working. [ Reply | More ]
