Current Anderson parents- Is the PTA really like a high school "clique"? I REALLY want to be involved in teh PTA, but afraid I might not be "cool" enough. The 3 ladies at the orientation meeting, the co-presidents, seemed OK, but kind of like they were in a members only "club". i really hope this is not the way it really is. Don;t get me wrong, they seemed really on their game and maybe i was just a bit nervous/anxious/excited that day. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

The only thing I thought was that they all were very committed to their volunteer "jobs," that as a new family, our dc will benefit directly from their efforts, and wondering how we will be able to contribute, both financially and in terms of manpower. I have to believe it's the kind of place where there's room for ALL types. [ Reply | More

You should volunteer for a few events, and perhaps co-chair one in a year before running for the PTA. It's the best way to ease into it and figure out where your strenghts are and who you want to work with. [ Reply | More
