How much do you pay your nanny, what are her hours and how many/ages of kids? My nanny is claiming that she is underpaid even though I gave her a huge raise and she's been with us less than a year.. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

funny - not only am i not a nanny, i'm a stay-at-home mom with two kids and another on the way. i just feel like if i did need to turn my kids over to someone on a regular basis, i'd want them to be the best they could be, and would be happy to pay well for that. (i don't get people - who can afford otherwise - who skimp on childcare. what better to spend your money on! again, that's for people who can afford to pay a nice wage.) [ Reply | More

$1100 a week on the books . plus medical insurance. plus 5 weeks paid vacation. 2 children are in school full time during year. she's been with us 5 years and is incredible. both parents work full time. for example, she planned our last vacation.. booked the hotel, rental car, air tix, restaurant reservations, entertainment etc, handed us the itinerary.... we are lucky but all three of us (nanny, husband and i) work hard at making this a harmonious relationship [ Reply | More

started as pure nanny as youngest child was a toddler. i didn't ask her to plan the vaca.. she took it upon herself (also it meant she got a paid week off if we went away)... her role has changed as the children went to school full time. issue is that we both work full time and we have to keep her full time or we'd lose her. it's great but we do have our ups and downs. i make an effort to show appreciation and thank her regularly. it does bum us out that she is so expensive but for the sake of the children we don't want to change nannies. she loves them and vice versa. plus we've had overpaid bad nannies and that's a nightmare [ Reply | More
