I am going to HELL for saying this but I have to get it off my chest. PS 6 has 5 K classes next year, one is CTT where its not Opt in or Opt out for kids who dont need to be in CTT. I am terrified DC will be put in CTT since its not needed just because they mix those who need it and those who dont for that one class. There I said it. Thanks for listening. What is the policy for placing chidren in the CTT class. Does six want every general ed student to experience a CTT class at least one year? Do parents request it? They do at my school. Is it luck of the draw? why do you think your child is not a good candidtate for K CTT class. I say get it over in K. [ Reply | More

no the assistant principal said they have one class a year and that it would be something that parents couldnt opt in or out of. you are just in it and you find out when you get class assignments. didnt mention that anyone would have to be in it once while they were at 6. I dont want DC in a special education class. DC doesnt need it. If DC did then of course there would be nothing to talk about. DC would be there. [ Reply | More

Its actually 40% se and 60% general ed. its not that bad. And, like I said, if you have to have it, get it over with in K. you won't be assigned it again in later grades [ Reply | More

most people are not fond of CTT classes. But they survive. It is not as bad as you imagine. And, why waste time worrying about something you can't do anything about. Just enjoy summer, your child is going to have good and bad teachers. [ Reply | More

np: I'm not sure what the CTT class is like at your school, but people kill themselves trying to get chosen for Children's School in Brooklyn, where the whole school is CTT. [ Reply | More
