Yes, check for ticks every night. We do it at bath time - I feel like a monkey, checking my kids' hair. [ Reply | More ]

are they easy to spot? what do you do if you find one? landlords said to take it out the old fashion way- what way is that? [ Reply | More ]

The deer ticks are harder to spot - they look like poppy seeds. Those are the Lyme ticks. We have not found one yet, but I was told to pull it out by the body with tweezers. [ Reply | More ]

Yes, deer vs regular ticks. They both live in grass - your yard (I think those are more likely to be deer) or high beach grass (more likely regular). [ Reply | More ]

They can be the size of a pin head, so you need to look pretty closely. I think that the preferred method is use tweezers (but be careful not to squish the tick while still in the skin.) [ Reply | More ]

I think I read somewhere that it is a bad year for tick season everywhere in the NE. If you take them off quickly enough, there's not as much risk of lymn disease. [ Reply | More ]
