WWYD? I am pregnant and we like our doctor, but the office is very disorganized and things keep getting "lost." Urine tests, blood tests, ets. - they can't find them at first and then eventually they find them again. Now I know my doctor received my nuchal results yesterday and STILL hasn't called me, even though when we called yesterday, the receptionist said she would call that day. Is it time for a new doctor or is this not a big deal? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

why do you say that? [ Reply | More ]

Because I just wouldn't see an OB for childbirth unless I had some major high risk factor. The US is alone in making OBs the default for birth--in the UK and Europe everyone sees a midwife unless there's an actual problem. You'll get better, more personalized care and have a way better chance at a vaginal birth. [ Reply | More ]

np: I wouldn't go to a midwife unless I absolutely had no choice- like if I lived an hour and a half drive from a hospital with poor medical care. YOu would be crazy to go to a midwife because your OB's office is disorganized. ANyway, who is your OB? Why not ask for opinions on her by name? [ Reply | More ]

She did, on another thread. Rhee/Bradley. And it's women who think like you that are the reason we have a 40% c-section rate and maternity care is so fucked in this country. [ Reply | More ]

Politically I liked where he stood but it was also people like John Edwards who got us to 40% (I'm quoting your number, not endorsing it.) [ Reply | More ]

you're absolutely right, but it's women buying into all the falsehoods and myths that enable the broken system to continue. [ Reply | More ]

That's very unprofessional. My doctors office always calls back same day, quicker if it is an emergency. [ Reply | More ]

That would really annoy me. You certainly have reason to find a new doctor. [ Reply | More ]

at least interview other doctors... it is much easier to switch now than at 30 weeks, if it continues. [ Reply | More ]

You know - we didn't even "interview" her. We didn't know what we were doing. I heard good things about this doctor - the location was good - so we went for it. [ Reply | More ]

Think of it this way- If you were delivering yesterday and your doctor had results of nuchal for another patient, would you want her to stop what she was doing to call the other patient immediately? Or knowing that results were normal would you want her to wait a day? I am sure if results were bad she would have called right away. [ Reply | More ]

Okay. Thank you. She did only wait a day. I suppose it is just not terrible sensitive to a new mom's feelings, but it was not an emergency. [ Reply | More ]

Yes. And when they get to know you better and you are not so early in your pg it prob will not seem so disorganized. Who is the doctor anyway? [ Reply | More ]

Sorry, I don't know her. I do think you overreacted a little to this situation, but that is normal. If you have a good feeling about her stick with her. [ Reply | More ]
