Feel terrible but lose patience easily w 4 yo. It must be hard on him with 1 yo beginning to walk , etc but it's so hard to get him to listen. Find myself raising my voice to put on shoes, hold hand, cross street, etc. He's in nursery and tests well (he's fine) it's just that he's four and a daydreamer. There's a lot of whining these days too. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

ditto ditto and ditto with my 4yo dd and 1yo. really hard to keep my patience with her. (no advice, just commiseration) [ Reply | More ]

Be sure to catch him listening and praise. My 3 yo does the same thing. Unfortunately I had told him too often the he was not listening to the point he that he saw himself as a "bad listener". I've had to rethink the way I phrase things. [ Reply | More ]

Good point. very "how to talk so your kids will" I'm conscious about pointed praise for cooperating, didn't think about listening. Thanks [ Reply | More ]

Same here. DD will turn 5 next week-4 was a whiny, infuriating age. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks ladies, I feel less monstrous. I stopped off at "CRUMBS" during lunch and bought some overpriced cupcakes for him. He really is a sweetie, just always driving an imaginary racecar or something [ Reply | More ]
