I will not be having sex except on the day I ovulate because I am doing the Shettles method for a boy. Is having sex just the one time on the day you ovulate too late? How long does the egg live and will the sperm get to it in time? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

egg lives for 24 hours, but it gets fertilized the easiest if it happens right as it is released. I think that it can take about 6-12 hours for sperm to reach peak concentration in the tubes. This method is not a great way to get pregnant quickly at all... [ Reply | More ]

actually an egg can live up to 24 hours but it may not. If you are trying for a boy you can also have sex in the 24 hours before you ovulate. Sperm live for a while but the male sperm usually die off quicker - but they are fast swimmers. Use an OPK. [ Reply | More ]

That's why I am trying to time sex as close to ovulation as possible. The male sperm die so quickly. [ Reply | More ]

with an opk, you need to have sex as soon as the positive, not that night or you are much more at risk of missing it... [ Reply | More ]
