what kind of ID do public schools want as proof of address? driver's license ok? or do they want a utility bill? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It used to be that each school "made up their own rules". But, the DOE took control. I believe there is a list on the DOE website. [ Reply | More

On 6/17/08 the DOE changed it rules to 2 pieces of proof. We took Con Ed and copy of lease. CC bill, phone bill, DL will not work as 1 of the 2 piece. [ Reply | More

from op: i have our utility bill, but have most mail sent to me c/o my work address (credit card bills, etc. since I get packages there and some places want billing + shipping address to match). are you sure that i need two proofs of address? i'm not seeing this on the DOE website, but maybe i'm missing it. You only need one if one is Con Ed or water bill. You need two if one is NOT Con Ed or water bill. The DOE does not consider phone bills definite for proving residence. [ Reply | More

Lower Lab registered us with just a utility bill (just this week). But that may be possible because it is not a zoned school and my kid was on the admissions list already. Who knows. [ Reply | More
