My next door neighbor has two large plants on the fire escape, this doesn't bother me but yesterday she scared me to death. No one walks around on our fire escape, I'm sitting in the living room and she moved one large plant to the next floor down. Is this normal? Midtown pre-war bldg. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It should bother you. What happens when there's a fire and you can't get down the fire escape because the plant got knocked over or something? [ Reply | More ]

OP -- I thought about that and the fact she's moved these large plants to other floors on the escape. Should I mention something to the Super? [ Reply | More ]

ITA. I had to leave a building by the fire escape once. I can't imagine having to do it with children, let alone having to scale giant plants. (People in the building were throwing lawn chairs off the escapes to get through - harder with a big planter.) [ Reply | More ]
