I have great relationship with dh, but feel weird about having a really good looking 25 yo nanny in the house. I think she's good with the kids so considering hiring her. Dh works from home some days and I dont feel comfortable with the idea of them there on their own. What do I do? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

i totally trust dh too but wouldn't consider this person. men are too visual, wired that way, even if he never acts on something he'll think it. plus i don't want to worry nanny is looking better than me! [ Reply | More ]

So you're not concerned that you're not hiring a woman because of her appearance? [ Reply | More ]

i see your point but I do understand b/c the job requires a stranger being invited to her home and be allowed intimacy with the entire family. ugh. can't believe i said intimacy. but whatevers. [ Reply | More ]

np: I understand your argument as well but I wouldn't want to always be less than confident in the child care decision I had made because of my hire's appearance as well. [ Reply | More ]

no, you'll find another nanny who is as good with the kids and who will not drive you insane every time she's alone at home with the hubby. not worth the stress, IMO. [ Reply | More ]

I have a great looking 28 y.o. nanny whom I hired when she was 23. I trust my husband. It's a non-issue. She's amazing with the kids and I would have been a fool not to hire her. [ Reply | More ]

I would talk to your husband about it. I don't like the advice of "men are like XXX women are like YYY so we should do ZZZ" -- there is no cookie cutter answer. Maybe he also feels uncomfortable with an attractive young nanny in the house, in which case don't hire her -- just both of you discuss your feelings and decide. [ Reply | More ]

^^^ to clarify, this answer was given under the assumption you trust your dh completely. If not, that's another problem altogether. I do, and this is what I would do. We did hire young nannies, one of whom was very attractive. It was not a problem for us. [ Reply | More ]

if you're uncomfortable, don't hire her. In my experience, however, you have to get a basic to homely grl or a total 100% sex-bomb knockout. he won't have any interest in hmely, and he'll be too intimidated by sex-bomb. [ Reply | More ]
