I was wohm for 20 yrs with our first two dcs am sahm with #3. I made the commitment to work 8-6 and limit my travel. He had no such restrictions because he was making a huge income. I also wanted to be there for all the routines. We had the same sitter for 23 yrs (still do) that was key. [ Reply | More ]

We did two things...(1) we had two nannies for the early years, and only changed to one after both kids were in school full time, and (2) we staggered our hours so one of us went to work early and came home early and the other went to work late and came home late (to maximize time with the children). OP: DH and I work overlapping hours. My dc are not abandoned all day. They spend part of the day with me, part with DH, and part with a nanny. But it is still hard. [ Reply | More ]
