someone raised their hand and asked why every face but one in the room was white. the principal said that while they are very committed to diversity, their hands are tied. they have to take who lives in the zone and that's mostly white people. [ Reply | More

Lots of talk about 41 vs 3. I have 2 kids at 41 and love it. 3 seemed too chaotic. A lot of kids with "no boundaries" gravitate towards 3. 41 is more disciplined. [ Reply | More

nowadays there is nothing guaranteed anymore. if a zoned school is extremely over capacity it can turn you down and the DOE is going to send your child to the next closest school that still has room. [ Reply | More

sorry, mispost. it used to be if you lived in the zone you were automatically in at the zoned school, but things are changing. doe has a loophole, which is that k is not required, so they don't have to guarantee you a seat anywhere. [ Reply | More

At this point in time yes. No D2 school has turned students away "yet". 234 is suggesting they will for K, but K is not required in NYC [ Reply | More
