4.5 yo DD complains sometimes that hard foods like pretzels hurt her back teeth (molars). Is this normal? Every dental appt has been great (last one was in Feb) though they have not been able to get xrays yet. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Yes- when molars are coming in the gums are soft and tender, so it is normal for hard/scratchy foods to hurt [ Reply | More ]

Thanks. She hasn't lost any teeth yet but at the Feb appt the dentist showed me how her teeth were spreading out and getting set up to start coming out in the next year. [ Reply | More ]

yeah. lots of movement at that age. My 5yo had to have a tooth extracted because she had teeth coming in but there was no room. [ Reply | More ]

Thanks again. It's exciting! DD has been talking about losing teeth for a long time. I am sure she will freak when it actually happens. [ Reply | More ]
