Besides wanting a child to do well on tests in general, does it matter how a child does on the 3rd or 4th grade ELA/Math tests? It affects middle school placement, right? Or does it? Anything else? If you're applying from public elementary to private middle schools, do the private schools look at those scores? Thanks. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Can be a big factor in gifted middle school placement, but there are many schools that use their own test/interview/audition to determine placement. [ Reply | More ]

for certain selective public middle schools, you need to score a certain scaled score even to apply. [ Reply | More ]

the more big test scores you can show the privates, the more likely they are to accept your child. [ Reply | More ]

4th grade test scores are a factor in public middle school admissions. 5th grade tests scores determine if a child is eligible to take the test for Hunter High School, which begins in 7th grade. a child must score in the top 90%, I believe. In my understanding, private schools do not look at the standardized test scores for middle school admission. They require tests from the ERB (either CTPs or ISEEs). [ Reply | More ]

My son got 99% on both ELA/math for 5th and we are applying to private for 6th grade. I think my son's public school is sending his ELA/math test scores anyway. Do you think the private ms schools will take a look anyway? Will it help? [ Reply | More ]
