Please explain: How do I get info on schedules and locations for taking ERB's and is there a practice test you can get? When do they need to have taken them by to apply for K or 1st grade in Fall 09? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

there are only two places to take the ERB -- your preschool (if 15 or more kids are taking it the ERB office will send a tester to the school) or at the ERB office which is on East 42nd Street. The test is offered year round. Your child must be 4 years old to take it for kindergarten admissions and take it the same year applying. The testing year begins in April. [ Reply | More ]

but isn't the deadline to apply to privates for K before APril? I don't understand how an April test can help admission if deadlines are much sooner? [ Reply | More ]

You can test beginning April 08 for the applications that you will fill out in Fall 08 for admissions in Fall 09. April is the BEGINNING of when you can test. You can test anywhere from april through december. [ Reply | More ]

wouldn't it be more beneficial to wait as the child will be more mature and probably test better? [ Reply | More ]

I didn't say you SHOULD test in April. I was just answering the question about the schedules and locations. [ Reply | More ]

np--Not necessarily, because the test is scaled for age. A highly verbal child may benefit from taking the test at a younger age; you may want to wait with a more immature child. [ Reply | More ]
