Job possibility in Foster City. Is there anywhere to live near there that is not going to cost $1,000,000. We are not rich. HHI would be $200K to start, dh would need to get job. Is it pointless to even consider moving to CA. Currently in NY metro area. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

there are some affordable-ish places near there, depending on your expectations. housing is expensive, but you could live in the east bay which is much cheaper, or some towns on the peninsula, or sf [ Reply | More ]

we moved here last year from nyc. it all depends on what you're looking for. we had family here and that was part of our reason. it's much much calmer here, adn beautiful, and warmer, and more outdoorsy, and all the things you've heard. but very different. [ Reply | More ]

OP - Thank you both for your replies. my expectations are not major - would like to not have to drive too long to work and don't want a mcmansion just a little house. would prefer a nice community with sidewalks (if they still make those) and access to outdoors for myself, dh, two boys and our dog (lab). Is that doable? Any suggestions for places to live? [ Reply | More ]
