My 6 mo ds does not roll over. He can sit unattended, reach, lean all the way forward and sit back up. But he simply will not roll over. (Actually, he rolled over twice at 8 wks, but then never again.) All the books say he should be doing this. (he's hit all the other milestones for babbling, laughing, etc,). Anyone btdt? I know every kid is different (my db #1 did everything very early, but now all the other kids have caught up), but the books indicate this could be a cause of some concern. Any one else not roll over till after 6.5 mos? Did it matter? Not sure what I could do about it anyway. Other than worry -- which I'm obviously doing or I wouldn't be here writing this. He hasn't had the 6 mo appt yet. I told her at 4 mos, but it was less important at 4 months. I intend to bring it up at our appt, but it's not for 2 weeks. [ Reply | More ]

Don't worry. Neither of my totally normal dc's rolled over until 7mo and 8mo. All the books say they should and I worried too but they were fine. [ Reply | More ]

Really? That makes me feel better. Were they slow to crawl too? My instinct is that he's fine. He's actually quite strong, but that's why it seems weird too. It's not as if he doesn't have the neck strength, etc, to pull it off. [ Reply | More ]

My now 9mo is trying really hard to crawl but just goes backwards (I am not worried in the slightest about him). My #1 crawled at 9mo and walked at 12.5m. My #2 ds just used to lie with his face flat onto the floor during tummy time and couldn't really lift his head much at all at 6mo - he can now. If your gut feeling is that your dc is fine then they probably are. GL [ Reply | More ]

Give him tons of tummy time and get down there and encourage a rollover. [ Reply | More ]

I roll him back and forth all the time. He resists it. He actually throws his weight the opposite direction to counteract my attempts to roll him. [ Reply | More ]

don't roll him back and forth. Put him on his stomach and leave him be. Put a toy or your face out of his reach and make HIM roll. We know you can do it for him, he needs to do - [ Reply | More ]

my older dd - now 3 - also only rolled twice at 4 mos and then NEVER again (til she was a toddler and was doing it for fun). she is now a happy, healthy 3yo who walks and talks. don't worry! also, she never crawled - only scooted on her tush, but right "on time" around 8 mos. [ Reply | More ]
