with #2 I just from day one put her down when she was getting a little tired. I didn't rock her to sleep. My #1 bad habit was for me to stay with her until she fell asleep. This lasted for almost 4yrs. It was SO HARD [ Reply | More ]

with my dc I did whatever it took to get them to sleep until 6 months, and then I tried to instill good habits, etc. [ Reply | More ]

You might find the Babywhisperer Book/website helpful. Are you putting them down before they are sleepy? [ Reply | More ]

You might be leaving it a bit late in that case. Try to keep note of when dc is getting cranky and if it is a regular time try to put dd down 10mins before then. [ Reply | More ]

I agree with some of the other posters not to worry too much at this stage. By 6m I would try to start doing things differently but for now do what works. The Babywhisperer has some good techniques to try. [ Reply | More ]

I never worried about stuff like that. Baby won't go off to college needing to be bounced to sleep. [ Reply | More ]

exactly - and naps end at age 3 anyway - so what's a thousand or so days in a lifetime? No big deal [ Reply | More ]

13 weeks is still pretty young. Mine did fine going down awake at bedtime but not naps at that age. I found Weissbluth's sleep book extremely helpful, but not the Baby Whisperer. Ultimately you have to do what's right for you and your baby rather than to try to push your baby into an external concept you have. If you stay mindful of the goal of putting down awake, you can eventually get there with her. [ Reply | More ]
