I set up a blog site at the place dd has a blog and listed similar interests as hers. To my surprise, she contacted me (via a comment to my blog), and we chattered back and forth. Now, I feel that's enough. I don't feel comfortable keeping up this charade. wwyd [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Being a parent does not give you reason to trick and deceive your child without having a reason - only to satisfy your own curosity. Now, if you think you childs on drugs - ok, search their room while they are gone - heck - I'd search it together while they were standing right there - but you broke a lot of rules and a lot of trust and as far as I can see gained nothing. Either switch off and keep quiet or use this as a good lesson in 'you never know who you are talking to on the internet'. Depending on her age she may feel betrayed that you have been tricking her. GL [ Reply | More

yeah, I think at this point I'll just use the access she gave me to monitor who she's talking to every now and then, but not keep up the fake stuff, i.e. respond as if I'm another person. We've had the "you never know who you're talking to" conversation a number of times...and I know her school reinforces that as well. [ Reply | More

I do too, but what we're talking about is not a long "relationship." I just did this yesterday, and most of the back and forth were tips about how to make my site look better. If I let the site die, basically look like I lost interest it will become a nonissue. we "talked" for maybe an hour. It's not like days, weeks, or monts. [ Reply | More
