big-law wohm w/5yo and 1yo (and dh) - our firm has an annual 3 day retreat in florida - spouses & kids invited this year - spouse will come but i think kids should stay home - what do i tell my boss so that i am declining the invitation graciously? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

op - there's a pool. out of a department of 20, only 1 other person is brining their kids. i think we will stick out like sore thumbs, and i don't really want my boss/co-workers seeing me as the mom chasing the 1yo in a diaper. [ Reply | More ]

the big deal is, if I understand correctly, that the child-free partner is reaching out to the people w/ kids by including them and she doesn't want to seem ungrateful. I think it's a good idea not to bring them as you are prob right that people will see you as "mom" after seeing you with them. people at my firm started calling me mom when I got pg -ick [ Reply | More ]
