I'm feeling like that's the emerging implication of the other thread about middle-class families attending private schools. The thread is scaring me because we are a MC family (if anything, lower MC) switching to a private on major FA in the fall. But then I keep realizing--there is bullying at dd's current public too. :-( [ Reply | More ]

omg, part of the difference is teachers have to deal w.it in public school -- no one gets counseled out. but kids are kids, public or private. it's a universal truth. [ Reply | More ]

np--In private schools there are more adults in relationships with students. There are teachers in the playground at recess who know every child by name. In my dc's school teachers and children eat lunch together. I think it's harder for bullying to happen in this kind of situation. I've passed my neighborhood school during recess and seen kids crying alone and no one (adult or child) coming to comfort them or ask what's wrong. [ Reply | More ]

I'm the one who posted that there are different kinds of bullying at public and private schools. Generally the ones at public school are in the younger grades and the ones at private school are in the older grades. [ Reply | More ]

when i said teachers have to 'deal with it' i should have said 'live with it.' the kids don't get moved out, so the bullies stay. ITTA with you about private. it's all about the student/teacher ratio. this is why we're leaving public for private. [ Reply | More ]
