On a neighborhood listserve I belong to a bunch of Moms are setting up playdates for the their kids that will be in the same G & T class next yr. My daughter will be in one of the Gen Ed classes & I am feeling way left out. She failed the test this yr, but even if she passes we can't get into G & T there b/c we are out of district. I feel 7 yrs of inferiority coming on -- she is the oldest of 3 kids, too... [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

You can see if your daughter can be included in the playdates or try to meet some of the Moms from the gen ed classes [ Reply | More

she should drop these friends. move on and make new friends. you won't have time for the old friends anyway, and if they are all in class together, your dd will feel like an outsider over time. if you link it to her "failure" to get into G&T, then she will pick that up and relate her sense of being on the outside to this fact. would not be good, so move on [ Reply | More

OP: You are all so sweet. Making me feel much better. I think the reality is it is a great school that will hopefully be able to provide differentiated learning for my kids even in their aren't in the G & T program, so maybe there is little to lament. [ Reply | More

I don't understand why you feel left out? A bunch of g&t mothers are trying to have pladates with kids from their class. Why don't you post to have pladates with your dd classmates in gen ed? I don't see how they are excluding you if your kid is not in the class. It goes by class. [ Reply | More
