Where do most LL kids go after 5th grade? IS it tough for them to them go to a gen ed program? What is thepoint of having a gifted program that only goes through 5th grade? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I've wondered about that as well. Two boys in our building a few years ago, one went to Anderson, another to the local PS. Then they both end up at Delta for middle school. So what's the difference? [ Reply | More ]

delta is the most selective middle school in D3 (not counting Anderson since it is city-wide). [ Reply | More ]

Actually Delta has not been that selective, since it is huge compared to other programs they take more kids than anyone else. Harder to get into some of the smaller schools. [ Reply | More ]

and they take the kids that test the best on the 4th grade tests. smaller schools (like Center and Mott Hall) may take fewer kids but admission is not test performance based. [ Reply | More ]

Most go to good selective middle schools, and since LL is small (2 classes per grade) it's probably nice for most to shake up the peer group a bit. I remember feeling liberated switching to a new school for jr high... it gave me a chance to partially reinvent myself in a new peer group and make new friends who didn't know I had the cooties in K. Me, too. I was so happy to go to middle school. Five elementary schools fed into it and I met so many nice kids. [ Reply | More ]

calling them G&T middle schools is a bit laughable, selective is a much better term. [ Reply | More ]
