Try and keep in mind, it's just Kindergarten. If you hate it, you can move anytime, retest for G&T and/or reapply to privates. [ Reply | More

I don't think anything could have made you like it. So your choices are, move. Find a spot in private, try religious school, homeschool for K (it is not required in NYC), or send her to K. Once you pick, then you get a whole set of new options for first grade. [ Reply | More

No advice other than to take a deep breath. Sometimes all the expectations can boomerang on you. Also, I find that open houses don't show schools at their best, even though you'd assume they would. But the crowd, all the anxiety, a few parents that completely take over all discussions and lead administrators away from what they meant to discuss... [ Reply | More

The principal about whom everyone raves, gave a nonsensical INAUDIBLE speech. She was asked several times to raise her voice and did not. They also were unable to answer BASIC questions (ie about busses since the school is moving). [ Reply | More

I tried to be. I would suggest you wait until the crush time is over and speak directly to the parent coordinator or even the principal. And then see how things are in September. The OR above is right - you can retest and reapply next year if it really doesn't work for your DC. [ Reply | More

a lot of the tiem the reason they can't answer questions is because they truly don't know. its up to DOE and they haven't been told. [ Reply | More
