I have a verrrrry active almost 2 yo and a new db due this summer. I feel I will need some help, at least for a few hours a day, for the first month. What should I look for? A baby nurse who will be willing to help with 2 yo? A sitter for 2 yo? How many hours do you think? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I'd get a sitter for the 2 yo who would be willing to help with a small amount of housework. When is 2 yo witching hour? Try to get a couple of hours at that time. Or towards the end of the day so you can get dinner ready. [ Reply | More ]

He's completely wired from the time he gets up until he goes to bed except during his 30 min nap. [ Reply | More ]

One 30 min. nap for a 2 yo? You poor thing. If that's really the case I'd consider as many hours as you can afford. [ Reply | More ]

You don't necessarily need help. Newborns at that age are very portable, esp since it's summer so you can be outside with stroller and don't need to worry about germs. But I would say you prob want a sitter for your 2 yo, although you should find someone who you you trust with newborn since you will want some one-on-one time with older dc and 2yo will appreciate it and it will make the transition easier for him/her. Depending on what you can afford - definitely get help for a few hours a day. I found it to be very tough in the beginning. I have a 2 yo & 6 week baby and I have to admit, breastfeeding and general life w/ a newborn was tough at the beginning, yet getting easier/better. [ Reply | More ]
