Any Forest Hills PS 101 or PS 144 moms on? waiting to hear from schools, but anyone know approximately how many kids going into First Grade? We're moving to area and trying to decide on schools. Options in PS101 and PS 144. We're also considering Lady of Mercy...thanks!! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Where are you moving? I didn't know parents were given this choice (my friend in each of those schools weren't given a choice). We're in 196 in FH and were also not given that kind of option. [ Reply | More

op: sorry, I meant we were looking at houses that gave us these choices. Found a house to rent in PS101, and one to buy in PS144. I think all the schools are very good, so it's more about class size, etc. We're moving this summer. [ Reply | More

OOOHHHH! I've heard very good things about both schools, but given their choice of schools, I think the general consensus would be to go with ps 101. Nevertheless, if you were inclined to buy instead of rent, I've heard good things about 144 as well. [ Reply | More

Both are good. Scores are better at PS 101 and that neighborhood is lovely. PS 144 is a nurturing school with a strong arts emphasis that really goes above and beyond for its special ed students (mine is one!) [ Reply | More

Well according to the math and reading scores that just came out published in NY Times, 100 percent of the sampled children at PS 144 passed their third grade math test and 99 percent of the third graders at PS 101 passed it. So they're virtually in a dead heat when it comes to academic scores! [ Reply | More
