I am 9 weeks pregnant (DB#2) and have just found out that I need to take a business trip to S. Korea. I have had morning sickness, and if it is like with my 1st, it will last until about 14 weeks, and then I expect to feel pretty good. Problem is, my boss wants to go when I'll be about 12 weeks -- and probably still sick. Should I tell him now and try to get the trip postponed? I wasn't planning to tell work until after 1st trimester. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

If you have concerns about how you will cope then tell your boss. I don't know the circumstances but could you see how you feel a bit nearer to the time. If it is postponed will you feel like going when you are even more pg? [ Reply | More ]

I felt great 2nd trimester last pregnancy, so I think that will be fine. I just feel pretty lousy now. And S. Korean men probably really don't want a woman puking on them --they already have enough issues about women in business.... [ Reply | More ]

Then I would plan on going on the trip and see how you feel just before (as you will probably be ok to go). If you feel rotten cancel and explain why. [ Reply | More ]

I disagree on lying in situations where there is no need. Either tell the truth or play it by ear. [ Reply | More ]

Have you had an u/s and heard the heartbeat yet? If so, I would tell the boss. Morning sickness + transpacific flight sounds absolutely horrible to me. [ Reply | More ]

Suck it up and go. Otherwise, boss should just find someone else in your dept to take your place - one who is not pregnant [ Reply | More ]

WRONG - do what's best for baby. If you need to say you're having a "procedure" then say that. "Just going" is stupid advice. You need to think more creatively and more about your baby -not you. babies trump everything else. [ Reply | More ]

but OP isn't worried about hariming her baby (which makes sense). its about her comfort, which is a real issue but nto about the baby's safety/health. [ Reply | More ]
