Aren't preschool teachers supposed to try to engage the kids that are shy? I feel like mine needs more help setting up to play than other more outgoing kids. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Sure, but in a busy classroom, a shy kid can be easily overlooked. [ Reply | More ]

OP: That's what I think is going on w DS. Should I complain to the teacher? [ Reply | More ]

I would start out by asking the teacher how s/he thinks DS is doing in class and mention that you're concerned about his shyness. [ Reply | More ]

np: you don't even need to complain. sometimes just talking to the teacher about your concerns makes them more aware of your child. i have noticed two things about preschool: the more verbal kids get taken care of first and the squeaky wheel gets the grease. [ Reply | More ]
