travel questions: 1.what clothes would you pack for the UK where it will be high of 68 at the most (live in south where its hot and humid)? mostly jeans and short sleeve shirts with a jacket? would you take any shorts? 2. I have 3 young dc and would like to pack their clothes each in seperate small wheeled suitcases (kid-sized) that they can wheel themselves, but am concerned that the small suitcases might get beat up (they aren't as rugged as our regular luggage). Should I sacrifice have organization of having everything separate or will the little suitcases be okay? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

i never take shorts, especially to europe. 68 really isn't that warm anyway. [ Reply | More ]

op-that's what I was thinking. I was all ready to take their summer things and then checked the weather and realized it will probably be cool. would you take capris and pants/jeans then? I'm taking a jacket/fleece for each child and I'll take some short and long-sleeved shirts. [ Reply | More ]

i doubt you'll even need capris. make sure you have something waterproof (preferably with a hood) for each. also, think about nightwear. some of those places don't stay warm at night. [ Reply | More ]

fwiw, i would make sure they are light-weight raincoats so you can choose to wear fleece underneath or not. [ Reply | More ]

where in the UK and when? it certainly can be warmer than 68 in say, London in the summer. In any event, you could wear skirts rather than shorts or jeans part of the time -- I think jeans may be hot on some days. Little suitcases seem ok to me. [ Reply | More ]

FWIW, I HIGHLY recommend that regardless of WHICH suitcases you use and who carries them, you divide everyone's clothes as equally as possible among bags so that if one bag gets lost, you don't lose all of one person's clothes. [ Reply | More ]

good idea-We are also going to include one outfit for all of us (and probably 2 for the baby) in our carry-on bags. in zip lock bags to compress and take up less space. [ Reply | More ]
