it's all about making a memory. we work very hard to make positive lasting memories for our dd. sometimes it costs nothing, sometimes we go "big" we just want to make memories that she can take with her on this journey. memories that will remind her that she comes from a place of love and support and caring. Are you guys INSANE??? A birthday party for a 5 year old warrants that much money???? OMGod in heaven. That is obscene. Completely and totally obscene. What is this world coming to with so many of you raising such materialistic, narcissistic children? [ Reply | More ]

Honestly, that makes me shudder. To indulge a 5 year old girl to the degree that you "make her dreams come true" is so disturbing. And you will always be able to find someone with more grotesque and distorted values so that is cold comfort. [ Reply | More ]

Awwww. How sweet. Thankfully my kid's dream is to have his friends come over and play with him, eat some yummy food, have a cake and open gifts. It's a great day. [ Reply | More ]

This was the first (and last) year I did a bigger party for ds. We had always had about 4 kids at the apartment (very small), and he wanted to invite more of his friends. If he had a warm weather birthday, I would have just done the park and paid for food and a permit, but he's a Nov. boy, so rock-bottom, I paid for 2hr rental for a building at the park, invited about 15 of his friends with their parents and a few family members. There was nothing materialistic about this party, believe me, and it still ended up costing, all told, almost $400. [ Reply | More ]
