Flying with 2 yo. This will be his first time having his own seat. Does he need a carseat or just sit him in the seat and use the seatbelt? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

I did it a couple times with my 2 y/o without a carseat. In hindsight, it probably would have been easier with the carseat, but I couldn't manage to carry it by myself. Anyway, you don't need a seat, but he'll have to sit down and be buckled in on take off and landing. That was a challenge for us, and the flight attendant kept yelling at us. [ Reply | More

I like the carseat for longer trips because my kids sleep better in them and it's nice to really be able to restrain them. For a shorter trip I think it's more of an effort than it's worth. [ Reply | More

He doesn't need a carseat on the flight. Mine was always happier with a little more space to stretch out and if she was in the plane seat, she couldn't kick the seat in front of her. [ Reply | More

no carseat. its a pain to carry them and frankly you don't need it. your kid can sit in his own seat very comfortably [ Reply | More

You do not need one. If I had brought one when dc was 2 she would have freaked out for the entire flight - much better for her without one. It depends on the kid. [ Reply | More
