Having a second DS. The wife of the Mohel we used, and will use again is a RE broker, we used her when buying our house. Any chance the Mohel will give us a discount? The going rate is over $700 cash! [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Doubt it. Sounds like a tacky thing to ask for. [ Reply | More ]

But if things are really tight for you, I would just ask the mohel if he could consider reducing his fee. Don't mention his wife. He might do it out of the kindness of his heart, and he certainly won't forget that you used his wife as a broker. [ Reply | More ]

most mohels will take less b/c it's such an important jewish law to have a bris and they don't want to deny someone b/c of financial hardship. HOWEVER, if you are having this bris in a $1mm house in Westchester (or somewhere similar) I think the financial hardship clause doesn't really apply to you. Suck it up and fork over the cash. That said, if you are really having hardship, definitely ask him if he'd accept less. He'll say yes. [ Reply | More ]
