Are people living Harlem eligible for Hunter as well? Does that area count as Manhattan? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Too funny. I thought people were pretty Manhattan-centric around here, but this is even worse. What do you call it, midtown-centric? FYI, Manhattan extends up to West 225th St. Harlem is in the low 100s. So you have miles to go from Harlem before leaving Manhattan. [ Reply | More ]

if you don't have to go over a bridge to get there - then it is still manhattan. [ Reply | More ]

All of Manhattan is eligible for Hunter. Roosevelt Island also is Manhattan by the way. [ Reply | More ]

Right above the Broadway Bridge, at about 225th St. Very top of Manhattan, very bottom of the Bronx. [ Reply | More ]

^^^But only open to Manhattan kids from K-6, then open to kids from all 5 boroughs at the next entry point which is 7th grade. High school is 7-12, kids can only get in for 7th. [ Reply | More ]

Hunter is a like lotto. The odds are that bad. Unless dc gets a 99 OLSAT forget about citywide G&Ts. District 3 lottery is out of reach. There are no acceptable district 5 G&Ts. If your friend is moving to Dist 5 where I live- be prepared to pay for private. And apply broadly. We were lucky to get off a wl at a 3rd tier school or we would be SOL right now. [ Reply | More ]

np. agree. op's friend should not move to harlem if she's planning on public school. hunter and g&ts are too much of a longshot. [ Reply | More ]

It's not too bad actually. PS180 zone is good, there is also one other good public zone in Harlem--recently reviewed on Inside Schools but can't remember the number.. If you are in the D3 part of Harlem, there are a lot of g&t programs, Hunter, Central Park East, MSC, and the D3 gen ed lottery. [ Reply | More ]

Hunter and CPE would also be available for the D5 part of Harlem, of course. [ Reply | More ]
