I just read on inside schools that unzoned UES families who applied for G&T were excluded from participating in the D2 gen ed lotery. Anyone know if this is true, or if it was clearly explained on G&T application? Seems totally outrageous. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

That was just conjecture from someone who posted a comment on the InsideSchools blog, the staffer said she'd check into it... this relates only to people who are zoned for the school in the far east 90s that was closed (the poster was upset that she got PS 198, which is the school that shares a building with LL). No, this was a different post, from last night: I'm in the former PS151 upper east side "unzoned" district. When my daughter didn't make G&T (97% on BSRA, but totally flunked OLSAT), i was a bit disappointed. Perhaps that was a blessing in disguise, we're assigned to PS6! My 2 neighbors, are assigned to G&T at hells kitchen and chinatown, and were excluded from the general ed lottery. Any reasons for that? Although I do breath a sign of relief for my daughter, I'm already nervous for my son (who's 1 and a half), I'll have to go through the whole process again in a couple years. [ Reply | More

I am in 151 also... DD is going to LL, but I think because of that I never got my 151 assignement. Interesting though because I didn't think the DOE had enough organization to figure out I was applying for 151 (which is not a lottery) and G&T. [ Reply | More

Don't be nervous -- there's sibling preference for 151 families. This year only siblings were able to go to 290 and 183 b/c of crowding. [ Reply | More
