i love it down here. it really does feel like a neighborhood. public schools are good. the park is lovely, easy access to the river, to soho, to hudson square, chinatown, financial district. all trains easily accessible. i've lived on upper east and midtown east. leaving here would be difficult. It's great! If you are new to the neighborhood, check out Tribeca Health & Fitness at 107 Chambers Street (corner of Church). Affordable, large and mom-friendly with a number of great classes. Quite a few locals are there for you to meet. [ Reply | More

lived there for three years -- hated it. pretentious showy $$ types, hoards of nasty, god-awful Caribbean nannies, all kid activities (except the park stuff) costs an insane amount of money ($600+ for 15-17 classes), almost zero stay at home moms. the schools are good but WAY over crowded.
