My MIL was babysitting my dc for the weekend (dh and I are divorced and on excellent terms), and she told them that I wasn't the best mother and she told them about everything she thought I did wrong and basically told them not to listen to me. My oldest told me everything on the ride home. I put the kids to bed and I sat in my room filled with anger, then I started crying. Am I overreacting? Should I call dh? Should I confront MIL? I am so shocked over this. I always had problems with her, but for her to try and pin my children against me is below the belt. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

How old is your oldest? Did MIL really think that you wouldn't be told? you need to talk to your ex fist, if this isn't new he probably won't be real surprised. Tell her, so more time alone with the grandchildren. [ Reply | More

She shouldn't be left alone with them, if she is talking trash about you. I'm not sayng to cut her out, but she is not acting responsibly. Even if she thinks she is right, what she is doing is not healthy for your children and she SHOULD also understand that, and yet she can't help herself apparently. How old are your children. ^^^if you want this to pass, I think you should frame this this way to your ex. Be rational, don't yell, and don't threaten, but explain why you think this is so unhealthy to your children and make clear that you have never spoken ill of eithr of them to your children because that would be abusive.
