went to b-day party today and mom who i was friendly with, i think i'm her frenemy now! crap. over g&t, too. (my dd scored high-enough for citywide and her bright daughter did not). i'm trying to keep conversation light, but i know she's angry. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

nope, we both were on the level. she had issues with process all along (they lost her application for test, didn't get test date, etc) she's very angry. and i know she looks at my dd and thinks she's not as bright as her's. i'm just trying to deflect the conversation, but it's so, so raw right now. it is annoying when a kid who is way less bright than yours gets a better placement. I remember this from private school process. some of these kids were slow, slow, slow and their parents managed to wrangle a spot for them at a top private. mind boggling and annoying. [ Reply | More

Sometimes there is a small social tax to be paid for a pretty big social benefit. It's uncomfortable, but you were fortunate (and your dd is v. bright) she was not (and her dd is v. bright); it doesn't cost much to just let her be angry for a little while, it will burn off. [ Reply | More
