DS played with a friend over the weekend who had another friend over. That friend was very aggressive and now my kids are literally covered in bruises. Ds said the friend of the friend just didn't know when to stop. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

Did you notice the "np"? I think if a child is playing that rough, someone should talk to him, that's all. [ Reply | More ]

op: the hosting parent did speak with him once we realized what was going on, and then we left. Just a different level of aggression. [ Reply | More ]

We were in another room (the kids are 11 years old, so we don't usually need to watch them very closely). Things just got out of hand, very fast. Then we left. [ Reply | More ]

Oooo, 11 yo. I didn't see that NP above. How upsetting. Make sure to give that other kid wide berth. [ Reply | More ]

Your 11 year old should be taught how to get himself out of a difficult situation such as this. Come up with different ways he could have "escaped" and saved face. [ Reply | More ]

what should he have done? (not be sarcastic - looking for some good language to use with him) [ Reply | More ]

This is at home later when you noticed the bruises. YOu have dh say, what the heck happened. child says, that kid was rough and just didn't know when to stop. Dh says, oh, yea I remember a kid like that in my xx class. Its hard, you are scared but don't want to show it and you have to really think on your feet to get out of there without everyone making fun of you. Could you have just said you wanted a drink or something and come thru the living room? Then maybe involve yourself in our conversation for a while, or say something to your friend about this dude not being cool and see if your friend is as uncomfortable as you are? There is safety in numbers you know... [ Reply | More ]

and see if dc has any ideas and tell him, he did ok. He's not hurt, its good practice and to just be aware of how to get out of a bad situation if he needs to [ Reply | More ]
