here's the weird thing. dd will go to private next year. it was a hard choice for us, but it's done and we're lucky to get an accept. when some moms ask, and i tell them about next year they i hear, 'great school, we just can't afford it.' no other topic would make people disclose their financial life. even w/friends going to private everyone explains how they can afford it. Oh,no that's not what I meant. I actually really appreciate that my parents taught me the value of $ and that we had to work for it. I just never remember hearing my parents or their friends or mine talk about money in the sense of "this person has it, this person doesn't." I may not be articulating this very well. [ Reply | More

op here. not in finance, extremely conservative financially and not wealthy. it will be hard for us to pay for this. but if it comes to a point when we can't afford it, we'll cross that bridge then. doesn't make sense to deny our dc an excellent school. and btw, we are leaving our 'good' zoned public, so i am not 'all about private.'
