2.9 y/o dd told dh today that sometimes she withholds to avoid pooping (she's been resisting the potty) ... any tips on how to handle? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

she's pretty shy about talking about it. she told dh, "sometimes i tell the poopy not to come out." i'll try to gently get more out of her. [ Reply | More

That's a tough one. You hate to backtrack with training but if she really withholds she can get into some serious constipation issues which will just make going to the potty worse [ Reply | More

NP: also be careful about what you feed her - don't give her foods like rice or bananas that are binding and will make it more painful that it has to be and go very heavy on the fruit that will make it easier for her to go without stress. [ Reply | More
