my dh and i have 4 small kids and need help (we're home helping as well)on the weekends (childcare and housework) and was thinking of hiring this lady. she only had 2.5 years experience and when i told her the pay was $15 an hour, she said, no, sorry that's way too little money for me. i live in the burbs, but is it that low? i'd split it up. i'd get a teenager to play with the kids and hire someone to do the housework at the same time. (while kids are being occupied.). i don't think $15/hour is too little. i just think it's goign to be hard to find someone who is 1. willing to do both, 2. is actually good at both cleaning and housekeeping, and 3. is available the hours you need. you'll be better off splitting up the job and paying a little more.
