I think that it depends on her situation and yours. How much notice did she have? Has she found a new job yet? If she hasn't had much time to find a new job, and I could afford it, I would give 1-2 weeks pay. If she's had 2 months, or starts a new job immediately I would probably five $100. [ Reply | More ]

If you move the date up for a nanny's unemployment without much notice? I think it is fair to realize that you have a responsibility to your employees. But obviously, if it is going to be a real strain, then your nanny probably is aware of it and not expecting it. [ Reply | More ]

we were supposed to have her for her full schedule (which is only p/t) until july. then sporadically over the summer. we'll end the full schedule a week early and she has declined to work the sporadic hours over the summer. [ Reply | More ]

I don't know then, go with your gut. She probably declined sporadic hours because she need steady income. [ Reply | More ]

I would feel obligated to go with the previous agreement and pay her through the next week, but obviously, it is up to you. I don't think that you're going to be an evil person if you decide to do less. [ Reply | More ]

1-2 weeks severance is not throwing money around if the nanny has been a good nanny. [ Reply | More ]
