Tell me about how you went into labor, if you went into spontaneous labor (ie, no induction, scheduled c-sections, etc.). 3 days late with #2 and starting to lose faith that this will actually happen. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

my dd was 4 days late. at 40wk appt, i wasn't dilated or effaced at all. 3 days later i woke up with a contraction, and continued to have them all day. went to see my OB around 6pm, he said i was 1cm dilated and did an internal--which apparently was enough to send me into labor, because my water broke about an hour later. dd was born early the next morning. I was a few days early, woke up in the middle of the night with cramps. Called doc, she told me I was in early labor and to go back to bed and see her in her office the next morning. A couple of hours later the cramps were more severe and I was climbing the walls so we headed into the city and straight to the hospital. I went from early to active labor pretty quickly. They used Pitocin to get me to dilate. Hang in there and good luck - - try and get some rest. You won't get any once this party gets started! Is your hospital bag packed and ready to go? Yes, this is #2, so I know what's in store. But it's hard to sleep/rest when you're 40+ weeks pregnant and you have a toddler to take care of . . . Bag is packed, ready, ready, ready to get going! [ Reply | More

same here, without the pitocin. I woke up about 5am with cramps that increased in frequency and intensity. I went to the hospital around 9am, and delivered dd at 2pm [ Reply | More
