Does anyone have problems paying for a nanny, dog walker, house keeper off the books? Why is this an issue for some? [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

It would be hard to argue that you have to pay taxes for a dog walker. Do they really qualify as your employee as opposed to a contractor (based on hours, etc). For a housekeeper and a nanny I would insist on workers comp and disability insurance. For those reasons, I would want to pay on the books. [ Reply | More ]

because if they ever get audited/caught, it's going to come back on you since it is your responsibility as the employer. [ Reply | More ]

I didn't say she was, but if she worked for you full time or close to it, then she is. [ Reply | More ]

For some people, if it is discovered, they can lose their jobs or licenses to practice their profession. [ Reply | More ]

Well, it's legally and morally wrong. I still do it, but I'm not proud. [ Reply | More ]
