Motherhood is just too much for me. Just broke up with dd's Dad, have no family here, & work/money situation is bad. We were fighting non-stop, & he can be violent, so I had to ask him to leave. But now I'm mostly alone with a very demanding 2 yo, & tonight, for the 1st time, I feel like having a child was a mistake. I have no family here in NY, all in Florida. What do I do now? do you have a support group or some sort of way to take care of yourself? what happens when we become parents is that often we tend to take away so much from us for the dc, and if you were in a violent relationship, this can be exacerbated-you learn to feel like you aren't worth much. so, you need to find ways to take care of you. moving closer to your family may help, may not. but doing something to take care of yourself is good. single parent support group, counseling (maybe you have some ptsd if there were violence or any sort of emotional abuse). sorry you are struggling, but if you were able to leave the relationship, that shows a huge amount of courage-no doubt you will be able to get through this and raise your dc into being a happy, healthy person. Things will get better, you will get a better job, your 2yo will get older and easier, and you will get through this breakup. Focues on work, dd, and building your network of friends. I don't agree you should move to Florida--dd needs to be near both her parents. [ Reply | More
