divorced moms please help - I am ready to leave my husband but getting out of this marriage seems like such a monumental task. How did you do the separation? Did you leave or did he? I rented an apt/signed a lease, then told dh the next day that I was leaving the following morning and that the marriage was over for me. We made an agreement then that dd would live with me during week and spend weekend with dh. We were agreement about most things, so divorce was not awful. [ Reply | More

Before you do anything, you need to consult (usually free) with a divorce attorney to get the facts/your rights in your state. Arm yourself before uttering the word divorce to your dh. Once you know what you are legally entitled to do and can expect, you will feel stronger. [ Reply | More

Hi there - I just left on 11/1. I told my husband that after what we had been through i needed some time to get myself & my sanity together living separately. I just had the conversation with him that it will be a permanent thing. I know this method may be misleading, but at the time i was about to lose my mind and I really could not deal with any drama while I was packing and moving my stuff out.
