Can somebody explain? Why TT private are better than 2nd tier? Peer group? curriculum? We are thinking about trying private next year. DC has fall b'day. He will be Anderson this year. Should we try only TT or better to try 2nd, 3rd tier to LOOK FOR private than staying A. DC's ERB score is 98/98/97, btw. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

What you should do is really try to find out what the kids are doing in the grades beyond K at Anderson and take that knowledge with you as you tour private schools. That way you'll know what you're comparing. Just comparing K and 1 is not enough valid info. [ Reply | More ]

You know, we have to start the process in September. It is kind of early how DS is doing, thriving in early months. We just want to set our direction. [ Reply | More ]

That's understood. I'm just saying that if you go into it with no knowledge of what you'd be giving up, except for what has occurred in the first 3 weeks of kindergarten you won't be able to make a fair comparison. [ Reply | More ]

Why don't you just save the tuition money and stop worrying about the status of your 5 year old? [ Reply | More ]

The 7 tt schools (HM, Trinity, Dalton, Chapin, Brearley, Collegiate, Spence) have college placement that's far superior the 3rd tier (e.g., CGPS, Friends) and 4th tier (eg, Dwight, Trevor, Hewitt) schools. 2nd tier schools (eg, ECFS, Riverdale, NBS) are pretty impressive too but not as good as the tts [ Reply | More ]

^^^If my DC was in Anderson, I would try for tt, but would not bother below tt. When your DC finishes MS, you can always apply broadly [ Reply | More ]
