Really annoyed and I think its unfair that I have to pay more in tuition so that other dcs can get FA. Also tired of parents assuming my kids get FA just because we are black. [ Reply | Watch | Flag ]

But what did you get out? You have pay the tuition regardless of FA. One has nothing to do with the other. As for other parents' attitudes, I'm with you there. But once again, you're the one who chose to send your dc to school with parents like that. [ Reply | More

I know more families like me that would send their DC to independent private if it cost just a little less. There is a certain income bracket that makes too much to get FA but private is painful to pay for without living like a pauper. [ Reply | More

One has nothing to do with the other. Financial Aid usually comes from endowments, grants etc. set up for that. This poster sounds fake IMO. Who would assume you are getting financial aid because you are black? Most of the people of color I know with kids in private make so much more than DH and I. [ Reply | More

not the OP but mother of a black son in private. There were things that had a greater impact on my choice of school for my son than diversity. His social/family life is full of racial/socioeconomic diversity. I don't count on my son's school to provide all of his needs. I do my best to make up for what the school lacks. [ Reply | More
